Leadership Event 2017 - PIA celebrates Activity for Emerging Leaders of the Industry

The Pharmaceutical Industry Association of PR held an activity geared towards the leadership development, including emerging talent, of the Biopharmaceutical industry last June 8, 2017. The activity sponsored by the Culture Team, a sub team of the Global Competitiveness Committee, had an audience of about 60 industry leaders. The objective of the activity was to create awareness among these leaders about the issues PR and the industry are facing The main speakers of the activity were Eng. Manuel Laboy, Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce and Roxanna Cruz, Esq. undersecretary of Treasury.
Eng. Laboy presented the Economic Development program of the government of PR, specifically the initiatives focusing on the manufacturing sector and opportunities for collaboration between the industry and government.
Ms. Ortiz talked about the short and long range plan the Treasury Department is pursuing including the Tax Reform at the local level.
After both government officials completed their presentations a panel of Attorney Carlos Serrano, Partner from the Reichard & Escalera Law Firm made a brief presentation about the potential implications for PR of the US Tax Reform that is been discussed at US Congress.
Following his presentation, a panel composed by Ileana Quiñones, President and GM IPR (Astrazeneca), Enrique Alejandro (Chairman of PIA’s Business Environment Committee), Amaya Iraolagoitia, Esq (Partner from Oneill & Borges Law Firm), and Sonia Rivera, Esq. (Astrazeneca) related to the presentations made by Eng. Laboy, Ms. Ortiz and Mr. Serrano. The panel answered question from the audience.
The activity was moderated by Liz Perez, Esq. (Lilly) and Roberto Monserrate, Esq. (Amgen).
