PIA SUPPORTS THE PATIENT ORGANIZATIONS OF PUERTO RICO ON THE WAY OF ACHIEVING A SUSTAINABLE HEALTH SYSTEM ON THE ISLAND

In order to support the development of patient organizations that provide services in Puerto Rico, on March 7th, the first workshop entitled "Pathways to Sustainable Health: Tools to Develop the Efficiency of Patient Services Organizations" was held, an event that covered a broad thematic diversity. The educational workshop was developed in collaboration with various patient organizations that have expressed the need to strengthen some operational areas to better train themselves in the provision of direct and indirect services to patients, relatives and caregivers. The forum covered topics such as Advocacy: Rights and Duties of Patients; Communication and Publicity Guidelines for Non-Profit Organizations; Best Practices for Fundraising; Generation of Statistical Data and Principles of Sustainability and Resource Management for non-Profit entities.The speakers included José Acarón, State Director of AARP of Puerto Rico; Patient’s Advocate Edna Díaz, Margarita Morales, Communications and Statistical Data Advisor; Idania Rodríguez Ayuso, from the Institute of Statistics, Dr. Yiselly Vázquez Guzmán, Health Educator and Roberto Acosta, Consultant in Fundraising for Non-Profit Institutions.
